PGA FanDuel Picks – Low Tier Picks: ($9,000 – $10,000)

Sepp Straka – $9,300 – (GPP)

By now it is evident I am going high and low this week or “stars and scrubs” if you will, but there are a couple of GPP plays in this range that I will likely incorporate into my player pool. In all honesty, Sungjae Im could easily end up a very chalky play in cash games with his salary compared to the rest of this field, but I write him up every week, and I am also obviously on board there as well. Instead, I will cover Sepp Straka, and give some extra love to my value picks this week that I  am way too high on.

The thing about this range from $9K-11K is that while there are golfers who could easily play great and win it, most of those same guys could almost just as easily have a bad Thursday and Friday and miss the cut. Straka has had a couple of hot streaks in the last few months, and the 26-year-old was solid in both alternate events in the last couple of weeks.

After a missed cut at the 3M Open, Straka has been solid over his last three outings, and he has gone pretty low quite a few times in this span. He shot a 64 in the third round at the John Deere Classic, but an even-par final round dropped him to a T-26 finish. He then had another monster third round at the Barbasol Championship, firing a 63, and this time he was able to close with a 66 and finish alone in third place.

In his last action at the Barracuda Championship and it’s modified Stableford scoring format, Straka shot the equivalent of 13-under par, and finished alone in 12th place. Considering we have a less than stellar field here at the Wyndham Championship, and Straka has played well as of late in similar circumstances, I think he fills a void for me at a price point where I see nobody else I want to roster. While I feel like this is an easy top-20, he could just as easily miss the cut.
