205 Live recap for July 30, 2019: Husbands gone wild

Mike Kanellis vs. Drake Maverick

Mike Kanellis attacks Drake Maverick while he’s walking down the ramp. It’s clear that Kanellis is angry and unhinged as he attacks his opponent with reckless abandon. He yells over and over that this is all Maverick’s fault. Maverick collapses in a heap next to the ring, so Kanellis thinks he’ll win via forfeit. Somehow, Maverick pulls his body into the ring and the bell rings. Kanellis resumes beating his nemesis.

For the first few minutes, my recap was “Drake Maverick rekt. Maria approves.”

Kanellis rips off Maverick’s shirt prior to beating him with his own belt. Behold the power of the 24/7 Championship flyers of R-Truth. Kanellis finds the flyers at the announce table and shoves them in Mavericks mouth, which somehow gives him strength and inspires him to finally fight back. Maverick returns the favor by ripping off Kanellis’s shirt and beating him with the belt. They take it outside the ring and Maverick DDTs Kanellis into the desk. He then attempts an elbow drop from the barricade, but Kanellis rolled out of the way.

After dragging Maverick to the ring, Kanellis could pin him. Instead he drops him and looks around the crowd. He moves to Drake to the top rope and attempts to lift Maverick up before Maverick reverses it into a hurricanrana/neck breaker combo.  Maverick pins Kanellis.

Kanellis is shocked and Maria is disappointed.

Who will face Drew Gulak at SummerSlam? How will Maria continue to traumatize her husband since he couldn’t secure a title shot? We do know that Maverick has no plans to continue competing. And let us know your thoughts on this week’s 205 Live in the comments below!
