18. Best college football teams of all-time: 1991 Washington

It’s almost impossible to have this list and not mention this Washington Huskies team from the 1991 season.

Not a single team lost by less than a touchdown to this high-powered Huskies team, which strangled opponents in just about every game, thanks to a ridiculously stingy defense filled with talented athletes and gifted players like defensive tackle Steve Emtman, who would later go on to be the No. 1 overall pick in the next year’s NFL Draft. The defense was so good, most of the touchdowns scored against the Huskies in that season were scored after the starters had already been pulled.

The team has been repeatedly ranked among the best Pac-10 teams ever, right behind a few other teams on our list. The team had dominant players at nearly every offensive position, including two solid college quarterbacks and several top skill position players.

Even though the team’s rise to power came with much later controversy thanks to an expose from Nick Perry and Ken Armstrong, the team (scandals aside) was one of the greatest college football teams assembled and terrorized all opponents, easily earning a spot in the upper half of this list.
