MLB DFS Pitching Primer: Cash Game Ace

Jacob DeGrom (12k FD, 11.8k DK) vs. Chicago White Sox

It looks like the perfect storm for DeGrom tonight as he faces the strikeout-happy White Sox on the road. His teammate Noah Syndergaard managed to whiff 11 Sox last night in 7+ innings and DeGrom has arguably better stuff than Thor does. His 32% strikeout rate is the best on the slate and the Chicago strikeout rate of 26% is worst on the slate, it’s a match made in heaven (I picture @2locksports version of heaven as him lying in a hammock watching DeGrom playing long toss with Sam Darnold).

Ok, back to baseball analysis. DeGrom just happens to be in excellent form, having not allowed a run in his last 14 innings and striking out 19 batters over that stretch. He may cost significantly more than any of the other pitchers on this slate, but your simply not going to a better ceiling or floor from any of them than DeGrom has in this spot.

You just have to hope the Mets hitters can get him some run support tonight against Lucas Giolito, one of the breakout pitchers of the year in the American League. And if they do get him a lead, let’s hope they let him finish the game out himself rather than turn it over to the bullpen, which blew Thor’s lead and lost his owners six valuable points on FanDuel.
