12. Mason Fine, North Texas

Like Jordan Love, Mason Fine is not as known at the top of the national level, but his play at North Texas for the past two years put him in the conversation for one of the best quarterbacks among the Group of Five teams.

Fine may be just 5-foot-11, but he was the Slinger of Texas for the last two seasons, with over 4,000 passing yards as a sophomore and 3,793 as a junior. Accuracy worked in his favor, as well, with a 64.6 completion percentage and 27 touchdowns to six interceptions.

Just two games in 2018 were below 200 yards for Fine, who went eight consecutive games with at least 240. There was also a separate eight-game streak of no interceptions, and it contributed towards just four losses for North Texas.

These seasons already have Fine atop the school’s all-time passing yards list, so he can use this senior year to obliterate that and, perhaps, entrench his name in Mean Green history.

Along with that, North Texas will hold a top spot in Conference USA, with the potential to land a good bowl game if they improve on 2018’s record. That will lie in the arm of Fine, who could make this team one of the most intriguing units outside the Power Five.
