4. Jake Fromm, Georgia

Jake Fromm is already on his way to becoming one of Georgia’s best quarterbacks ever, and he will only enter his junior season in the fall. Two brilliant years are behind him, both of which had championship aspirations. So, now what?

Fromm’s first two years combined for over 5,200 yards passing, 54 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and 64.9 percent passing. It has him among college football’s best, and if it was not for another SEC standout, this would be the conference’s top quarterback.

Can Fromm take another step in head coach Kirby Smart’s offense? The system does not portray him as a gunslinger, but an accurate quarterback who controls the ball, much like those under Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa.

Fromm advanced from Year One to Year Two, however, and if he builds on that, he could top 3,000 yards and move closer to 40 passing touchdowns. It might be a stretch, but he was one of the most advanced quarterbacks over the past two years, which became enough to make Eason and Fields transfer to other conferences.

The greatest leap would be the Heisman conversation, but that will take surging past the difficult competition and supplanting Alabama in the SEC.
