4. Andy Reid’s creativity

Reid gets justifiably criticized for his struggles in the game management department. Some of his in-game choices on the sideline are truly baffling. That causes some fans to forget about Reid’s brilliance as an offensive tactician.

That reality isn’t lost on the players he coaches in Kansas City. Mahomes, Travis Kelce and company are all keenly aware of the advantage their head coach gives them on a weekly basis.

Reid’s creativity will be put to the test this season. Chiefs’ opponents have spent countless hours this offseason studying how they were attacked by Reid last year. Good NFL coaches can always make adjustments. Great offensive coaches know they need to recreate their playbook annually if they want to keep their defensive counterparts off-balance.

Reid isn’t going to throw out everything that worked last season, but he’s not going to sit back and rest on his laurels either. Chiefs fans should expect to see a host of innovative new concepts designed to take advantage of the unique talent at his disposal. Reid won’t reveal it all at once, but his creativity will be readily apparent as the Chiefs enter their stretch run.
