MLB DFS Pitching Plays

Lance Lynn – Lance is truly turning a major corner this season. What would you say if I told you that he has gone six or more innings in every game since April 23? Lynn hasn’t had the easiest schedule either, drawing Oakland several times, Houston three times, with his last “easy” match-up coming over a month ago against the White Sox. Yes, his price seems a little absurd, but it is the Tigers. They rank in the bottom five in the MLB in ISO, strikeouts, and wRC+as well.

Pitch Mix – Lynn uses the fastball 60% of the time, with a sinker, and cutter 15% of the time, mixing in the curve. One notable thing is his fastball has seen an increase in whiffs gradually all season long, especially compared to last year. It also has an increase in GB, the curve, cutter, and sinker all have over 40% whiffs as well, making improvements from last season.

After looking over the movement, and velocity I didn’t see any major differences. The only logical reasoning for his CY young type season, is his placement, throwing my strikes, getting more GB, and limiting power. Detroit doesn’t have much power, and they just traded the best hitter on the team, so I really like Lynn day.
