Lack of heels

Every hero needs a strong villain to contend with if that hero is supposed to win over the crowds. With strong heels like Nia Jax and Ruby Riott on the shelf with injuries, there’s been a strong lack of heel energy in the women’s division.

Other than Charlotte and Alexa Bliss, the roster is so depleted of heel talent that WWE had to push Lacey Evans to the front of the line to find a suitable opponent for Becky Lynch to face once Ronda Rousey left the company.

Banks has proven her worth as a top heel before in NXT and during her initial run on the main roster. She was all about swagger and bravado then and it suited her. Not only would Banks coming in as a heel even the sides but she’d also be returning as a former four-time women’s champion.

This means she’s got the prestige and skill to back up any challenge she would issue. The dynamic in the women’s division would shift because, as mentioned, Banks knows how to play her role of heel better than anyone. “The Boss” used to condescend her opponents with a verbal tirade and then back it up in the ring.

Even though in this day and age the lines are blurred and a face can go against a face, there’s still something to be said for the classic good guy vs. bad guy scenario. Plus, rather than have Banks return as a babyface, and get lost in the shuffle causing her to leave again, she could stand out as a top heel instead.
