The FanSided Fantasy Football team got together and did a mock draft this past weekend. For a little background information, this was a 0.5 point PPR draft. We threw out kickers and added a FLEX.

So the positional Fantasy Football Mock Draft breakdown went as follows: QB, RB (2), WR (2), TE, FLEX (2), DEF, BN (6). Here is what I went with:

1.07 Le’Veon Bell, New York Jets (RB1)

When the Fantasy Football draft-room opened and I saw that I was sitting at 1.07, Le’Veon Bell was the only player on my mind. Unlike most, I currently have Bell ranked as my RB4. Considering his current ADP of 7.1 as the RB6, I felt fairly confident that he was going to fall into my lap.

If Bell had gone prior to my selection, I would have gravitated towards David Johnson, who was also available at the time.

So why Bell? To make it simple, I tend to target volume however I can get it. I look at this situation in the Jets’ backfield and see no real threat to steal touches.

In fact, it’s still unclear who is behind him in the depth chart. Rotoworld currently has Elijah McGuire behind Bell, but Rich Cimini from ESPN believes McGuire might be “the odd man out.” That would leave Ty Montgomery and Trenton Cannon as the final two Jets’ running backs. We shouldn’t expect either player to have a role in the Jets’ offense.

Bell has proven that he can be a three-down back in this league and can do so at a high level. He is one of the purest receivers among running backs.

Bell took last season off holding out for a new deal but should head into the 2019 season ready to roll. His year away from football has made people wary of selecting him on their Fantasy Football teams. As of right now, I am all in on Le’Veon and drafting him everywhere I can.
