FanSided Fantasy Fantasy Football Mock Draft: Rounds 8-9

8.06 Royce Freeman, Denver Broncos (RB4)

The selection of running backs continue. Sure, I already locked up my top three running backs, but I didn’t feel overly comfortable with them outside of Bell. Royce Freeman had a letdown rookie season as everyone was hyping him up heading into the 2018 season. The Broncos’ backfield looks to be all but locked up and Freeman was expected to be a bell-cow.

Then came Philip Lindsay out of nowhere. The un-drafted free agent tallied 18 touches in Week 1 against Seattle becoming one of the hottest adds on the waiver wire. However, Lindsay is currently recovering from a wrist injury that held him out of Week 17.

If this injury lingers just the slightest bit, Freeman could be in for a larger role. We should expect him to see an uptick in carries, while his work in the passing game remains unknown. Freeman finished the 2018 season with a total of 14 receptions, eight of which came in Week 17 with Lindsay out of the picture. This is a training camp battle that has my full attention.

9.07 Keke Coutee, Houston Texans (WR4)

I’ve already expressed my love for Keke Coutee in my “late-round wide receivers to target” article earlier this month. Well, I stayed true to what I said and grabbed Coutee in the ninth round.

The Texans offense is going to be re-gaining Will Fuller, along with Coutee. Though Fuller is more of a touchdown threat, he’s not going to acquire more targets than Coutee. I passed on a tight end in this spot to secure my WR4.
