FanSided Fantasy Fantasy Football Mock Draft: Rounds 12-13

12.06 Trey Burton, Chicago Bears (TE1)

The wait for a tight end finally came to a close in the 12th round of the draft. I did have a shot back in the sixth round to jump on O.J. Howard or Evan Engram, but decided to go running back. Had I started running back-heavy, it’s likely I would have selected one of the two. In this spot, my decision came down to Jimmy Graham or Trey Burton.

There were a lot of people on Burton last year and didn’t quite live up to the hype. Feels weird saying it, but the TE7 in 2018 was considered a disappointment. A lot of this has to do with his week to week production.

Burton played in all 16 games last season, but only surpassed 50 yards three times. His game log is extremely underwhelming with 13 games resulting in less than five catches. Being selected here as the TE16 in this FanSided mock, it is well worth the risk.

Worst case scenario, I stream the position throughout the year. If I miss out on the top five tight ends, this is most likely going to be my strategy.

13.07 Minnesota Vikings D/ST (D/ST1)

Typically, I would suggest you wait to draft a defense until the very last round. In this spot, I wasn’t a fan of my options. I had my eye on a lot of players further down the board, so I took a defense early, in the Minnesota Vikings.

This defense has had the same core players for years now. They continue to resign the players that they have groomed themselves. This group will now enter year six of the Mike Zimmer era. In his past five years calling the shots on defense, they have yet to finish outside the league’s Top 15. This defense has a veteran base with young depth and should be a Top 10 lock this season.
