Fantasy Football: Jack Doyle | Indianapolis Colts

While Eric Ebron stole the spotlight in what was a breakout year for him in Indianapolis, it’s Jack Doyle that comes into the 2019 fantasy football season as an elite draft-day value.

If it weren’t for missing 10 games last season, Doyle would have blown Ebron out of the water for the TE1 priority in Indianapolis. If you need proof of that, below are the numbers for both Doyle and Ebron during the 6 games in which both took the field;

  • Doyle: 26 catches on 33 targets, 245 yards, 2 TDs
  • Ebron: 18 catches on 22 targets, 228 yards, 7 TDs

Obviously out of the stats above, the touchdowns carry the most fantasy value and that is where Ebron will continue to hold an advantage. If you expand the stat lines above, however, that Doyle ran 151 routes compared to Ebron’s 101 and held a 78.8% completion rate compared to Ebron’s 60.7%.

At his current ADP, Doyle is being drafted anywhere from the TE17-TE19 in drafts, which shows how badly recency bias of both Ebron’s unsustainable touchdown rates and Doyle’s injuries are affecting fantasy GMs.

In 2017 without Andrew Luck, Doyle was able to finish as the TE8. While he may not get the red zone looks that Ebron gets, you can trust his sure-handedness and Luck’s reliance on him given the above target and route discrepancy and count on him blowing his current ADP out of the water.
