Fantasy Football 2019 Tier Quarterback Rankings

Fantasy Football Quarterbacks: The elite
These four quarterbacks are the best of the best and are worth drafting early.
Aaron Rodgers, GB
Coming back from an injury-shortened 2017, Rodgers threw for 4,442 yards, 25 touchdowns and only two interceptions. He posted those numbers with less-than-stellar weapons around him.
Entering this season, Rodgers will have Davante Adams, Geronimo Allison, Jimmy Graham and Equanimeous St. Brown to throw to. The rushing game will be led by Aaron Jones with Jamaal Williams behind him.
I usually never draft a quarterback before Round 6 but if Rodgers falls to the back-end of the fourth or fifth round, then it’ll be hard to pass on him there.
Andrew Luck, IND
Luck threw a career-high 639 passes for 4,593 yards, 39 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. The offensive line was improved which saw his sacks drop from 41 in 2016 to just 18 last year. The front office also helped bring in weapons for Luck.
Along with T.Y Hilton, Luck has new wide receiver Devin Funchess and the tight-end duo of Eric Ebron and Jack Doyle. Marlon Mack and Nyheim Hines make a good running back combo as well.
According to FantasyPros, Luck finished with top-five type numbers just 6.3 percent of the time. He’s a great quarterback but not one you want to overpay for this season.
Deshaun Watson, HOU
Watson had a lot of things go wrong in his sophomore season. He had a chest injury that limited his rushing ability and lost both Keke Coutee and Will Fuller for multiple games. Even with the injury, Watson still rushed for 551 yards and five touchdowns on 99 attempts.
You can’t forget about DeAndre Hopkins, who 115 passes for 1,572 yards and 11 touchdowns last year.
The running game will likely improve as the offensive line saw an upgrade. Lamar Miller is almost a lock to miss a couple of games but he can still rush for 900 yards.
With another 500 pass attempts coming, Watson could be the top quarterback at the end of the year.
Patrick Mahomes, KC
If we’re going on last year’s numbers, there’s no question my Mahomes is atop everyone’s quarterback rankings. He had an amazing fantasy season with 5,097 yards, 50 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, 272 rushing yards and two more touchdowns.
Mahomes threw a touchdown on 8.6 percent of his passes, seventh-highest of all-time. FantasyPros gave a good stat regarding regression in that stat.
“Here’s the list of quarterbacks who are ahead of him, included with their touchdown rate in that season, as well as the following season: Peyton Manning (9.9 to 6.2), Ken Stabler (9.3 to 6.8), Deshaun Watson (9.3 to 5.1), Aaron Rodgers (9.0 to 7.1), Tom Brady (8.7 to 5.0), Mark Rypien (8.7 to 4.6).”
You never know which direction Mahomes will go this season. He could be more efficiently with his passes or more erratic. Tyreek Hill is a question mark due to his off-field issues. Sammy Watkins and Demarcus Robinson are not the best duo. Though, having Travis Kelce doesn’t hurt.
I say two things when drafting. “Don’t pay for the name and don’t pay for last year’s performance.” The latter is the case for Mahomes.
The position is deep. You can draft a top-10 option at many points during the draft and have a solid option. The league is changing, especially for fantasy football, and it benefits quarterbacks.
