Fantasy Football – FanSided Mock Draft: Rounds 4-6

4 – (46) – RB – Phillip Lindsay – Denver Broncos

Heading into the fourth round, I had three wide receivers in my queue and was feeling pretty confident that I would end up with one of them.

Robert Woods, Brandin Cooks, and Kenny Golladay were all picked before my turn, and with just Calvin Ridley on my mind, I thought he would be there for me when I picked six picks later. It was then with about 30 seconds to make my pick that I started getting hit with Gurley uncertainty.

With Gurley’s knee in question, I panicked and went running back. In hindsight, Mark Ingram would have been a much better pick here, but keep in mind that we drafted before the Broncos signed Theo Riddick.

With Riddick expected to bump into Lindsay’s pass-catching production, this actually turned out to be an awful pick on so many levels. Not only should I have taken Ingram, but I should also have grabbed Ridley here because he was sniped from me the very next pick. I still like Lindsay this season don’t get me wrong, but his value takes a significant hit with

5 – (51) – WR – Robby Anderson – New York Jets

With 50 players off the board, staring at what is left at wide receiver at this point in the draft should cause you a little stress if you only have one at this point. Thankfully, Robby Anderson fell to me as my number two, as I think he is in for a massive production swing as he enters his fourth season.

Sam Darnold is getting positive reviews and developing, and with Jets adding a legit multi-dimensional threat like Le’Veon Bell in the backfield, this could be a breakout season for Anderson.

Is Anderson as talented as Antonio Brown? Probably not, but if Darnold can get time to throw and Bell can do what he has done in the past, it is silly to think Anderson cannot succeed this season.

He has been mired in a poor offense for his first three seasons and his numbers up to this point in his career are nothing to get excited about, but he has been durable up to this point in his career missing just two games total.

6 – (70) – TE – O.J. Howard – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

With another long wait in between picks, my build at this point is OK with three running backs and two wide receivers, and I am once again targeting a wide receiver with this pick.

I reluctantly had Alshon Jeffery in my queue, and he was picked a few picks ahead of my turn, which once again pushed me in a different direction.

Evan Engram was just drafted two picks earlier as the first tight end off the board after the big three, and I figured now was the time to jump on one of these mid-tier tight ends.

The Buccaneers have zero running game, will likely be behind in plenty of games this season, and have a pretty electric up-and-coming passing attack. While Chris Godwin is getting the early camp praise I feel like Howard has the real breakout potential in this offense. Staying on the field seems like it will be the issue here.

Howard is entering his third season as a former first-round pick out of Alabama, and after playing 14 games his rookie season, injuries limited him to 10 games last year.

I expect him to be the second most targeted receiver in this offense behind Evans if he can stay on the field for all 16 games, and now with this pair on my squad, there is only one way to go at the quarterback position.
