Fantasy Football 2019: FanSided Mock Draft – Pick 1.03 Breakdown
Fantasy Football – FanSided Mock Draft: Rounds 10-15
10 – (118) – RB – Justin Jackson – Los Angeles Chargers
The running back position is deep this year and every year, and even with a questionable Todd Gurley as my number two, I was rightfully way more stressed out about the depth at the wide receiver position, as there are still a few potential starting running backs available at this point in the draft.
Miles Sanders was my primary target as I think he is primed for big things in that Eagles offense, but he was drafted in the ninth round along with another target of mine, Kalen Ballage.
Here is what we know about Jackson and the Chargers, and why I have no problem with this pick. Melvin Gordon is on his way out, holding out and demanding a trade.
Austin Ekeler, also drafted in the ninth round just before my Fitzgerald pick, figures to be the prime beneficiary on paper, but did anyone watch Justin Jackson when he was on the field last season as a rookie? Both Jackson and Ekeler are solid in the passing game, and this could end up a 50/50 split, but this kid flashed some solid potential last season in his limited opportunities last season.
11 – (123) – QB – Jared Goff – Los Angeles Rams
With Winston as my number one quarterback, I was pretty thankful Goff fell to me where he did. Tom Brady and Jimmy Garroppolo had recently fallen off the board, and after Goff, I was looking at Philip Rivers and Lamar Jackson.
I have a ton of faith in Jackson this season for fantasy purposes as I feel he will have a huge advantage if he runs as much as expected.
However, Goff with a healthy Gurley could easily give me a solid duo to work with. If I could change one thing here, I may have grabbed my fifth receiver in Donte Moncrief who was sniped right in the middle of my long wait between the 12th and 13th round.
12 – (142) – TE – Noah Fant – Denver Broncos
With Howard my guy until he struggles or gets injured, and I took a shot on Denver rookie Noah Fant who I expect to get some heavy usage right out of the gate. New Broncos quarterback Joe Flacco has always used his tight ends well, and Fant should eventually end up the starter here in Denver.
Fant is taking first-team reps with Flacco in camp, but Jeff Heuerman is the starter for now. He wasn’t my first choice here, and in hindsight I messed this pick up after being rattled by Joe Metz sniping Mark Andrews from me two picks prior. T.J. Hockenson was still on the board, and word out of Lions camp is that he is looking good and picking things up quickly.
Hockenson would have been a better pick.
13 – (147) – RB – Adrian Peterson – Washington Redskins
Of course another shot in the dark at this point in the draft, but I love All Day this late as he assumes to slide right back in his starter’s role at least to start the season.
The Redskins are going to struggle on offense this season, and Derrius Guice will be a factor in this offense once he is fully recovered from his ACL tear in last year’s pre-season. Guice is “healthy”, but will be likely be brought along pretty slowly.
Peterson is 34-years-old, but let’s not forget he missed some time in the prime of his career which may have saved his legs and extended his career.
AP was the only constant in this offense last season, starting all 16 games and scoring eight touchdowns while averaging 4.2 yards-per-carry. I had my eye on this pick pre-draft and will continue to target him in the same spot during my draft season.
14 – (166) – DEF – Jacksonville Jaguars
Not at all upset with waiting until round 14 to grab my defense considering Jacksonville was the seventh team defense off of the board. Some of the top experts in the field in rankings I have seen have the Jags as high as number two overall, and I currently have them ranked third in my early rankings.
I would have loved the Bears or the Vikings, those are my top two, but both along with the Rams went in the 13th round, one round earlier than I am comfortable with.
However, the Chargers, Browns, and Rams were all drafted in the 14th round, as I sat and hoped Jax would fall to me. I am mostly a defensive streamer, but in this league, I would be likely to roll with Jacksonville until their bye week considering it is a 12-team league.
15 – (171) – WR – Marquise Brown – Baltimore Ravens
After Cardinals rookie Andy Isabella was drafted in the 14th, I had just one receiver left that I had my eyes on. The Ravens passing attack is nothing to marvel at and this will no doubt be a run-heavy offense, but I have no problem taking a flyer with my last pick.
I think Lamar Jackson will continue to take strides towards being a solid NFL quarterback this season, and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown could be a legit NFL weapon.
This is a team with a wide receiver corps led by Willie Snead at the moment, so this will be yet another Ravens first-round pick with high expectations.
Hollywood Brown has lightning speed coming in as a 22-year-old rookie out of Oklahoma, and we know Jackson has a cannon, so this could be a match made in heaven. I think tight end Mark Andrews will lead this team in targets if he stays healthy, but if Brown can pick up the offense quickly he should be on the field plenty in his rookie season.
Summary
Thanks for checking out my view from the third spot in the draft of a 12-man Fantasy Football mock draft with some great NFL minds. This is not the best I could have done, but if Gurley turns out to be a top-five back once again, I should be in really good shape at the running back position with McCaffrey carrying the load.
I was able to land a tight end I covet in O.J. Howard and pair him up with Winston and Evans, so this team will be relying upon a ton of that garbage time Bucs passing offense. It’s a good core, but I will likely need some help at the wide receiver position with mostly nothing but question marks after Mike Evans.
Remember to stop back again soon to keep up with our Fantasy Football staff mock draft to get prepared for whatever pick you may have in your upcoming drafts. Again, thanks for reading, and good luck this Fantasy Football season!
