MLB DFS Pitching Plays

Zac Gallen  – Gallen is one of my favorite young prospects, and will be making his debut for the Diamondbacks after recently being traded. Zac has a 4.53 xFIP, 28.5% K rate, 31.8% GB, and 36.4% HC.

Philly is not a team I would normally target, especially with a rookie pitcher. With the limited options on this slate, I really thinkg Gallen is a great GPP pivot. Philly strikes out around 22% of the time, hitting 40% GB. Gallen will see more RHH, where his ISO is .111.

Pitch Mix – Zac is fastball heavy at 44%, with a slider, curve, and change mixed in. Everything gets over 20% whiffs, with the change getting over 40%. That change also got 83% GB in July, which is insane. The slider, and curve got over 40% as well.

Gallen has very average speed, and limited movement on most of his pitches, outside of the fastball which moves ten inches. He has so much room to develop that we really can’t be too harsh on him at this point in his career. Zac is an excellent GPP play on the main slate, although this is likely the one I would avoid.
