PGA FanDuel Picks – Top Tier Picks: ($11,000+)

Rory McIlroy – $12,000 – (Cash/GPP)

I don’t know about you, but I love these next three weeks of playoff action just as much as I do major championships. We have the top 125 in the final FedEx Cup standings set to tee it up this Thursday morning at Liberty National Golf Club, with the Statue of Liberty in plain sight off the Jersey coast in Jersey City, New Jersey.

What I want to do this week is be different. Brooks Koepka will likely be a solid play once again, but he will also likely be the highest owned player coming off his victory at the Wyndham Championship as well.

There is plenty of value again this week, and paying up for three studs will once again be my plan of attack in GPP’s for the most part, but for cash this week, I actually McIlroy shapes up to be the safest play of the week.

The missed cut at the Open Championship was nothing more than nerves on the first hole, and not being able to quite get back to the cut line after an incredible effort to do so.

I love the fact that Rory went really low at Sedgefield on moving day with a 62, and I think the fact that he slipped up a little on Sunday and still finished T-4 will give him an extra push this week at the Northern Trust.

I love the $9K range this week, as it is loaded with five to seven cut-makers I am trying to decide between. I have plenty of salary to plug McIlroy in my cash lineup this week, and I am not hesitating to do so.

It is the $10-11K range that I feel has a ton of question marks this week, and I instead plan to have at least four golfers in this top tier in my GPP pool.

Tommy Fleetwood – $11,000 – (Cash)

Not only is this as safe as it gets as far as making the cut goes, considering it has now been over a year since Fleetwood has missed one, but Tommy has also been playing tremendous golf over his last few times out. After poor weekends led to lackluster finishes at the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open, something seemed to have clicked for the 28-year-old.

Fleetwood T-13 at the Travelers Championship, then in his tune-up for the Open Championship, he had a decent T-23 finish at the Irish Open. That’s when he seemed to really take it to the next level.

He shot three-over on Sunday at Royal Portrush, but still finished alone in second place, and he was able to follow that up with a T-4 at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational two weeks, to give him back-to-back top-fives heading into Liberty National Golf Club this week. I love the price here for the form we are getting, and Fleetwood might just be my top overall play this week.
