Week-by-week predictions

Game 1: at South Florida

Starting the season on the road against a South Florida squad that was a rollercoaster last season isn’t a wholly welcomed task but Wisconsin should have the horses to get out and control the game.

Result: Win

Game 2: vs. Central Michigan

There’s not much to worry Paul Chryst’s team in this matchup as they should comfortably be able to roll past the Chippewas.

Result: Win

Game 3: vs. Michigan

Even with Jim Harbaugh and his team making the trip from Ann Arbor to Madison, it’s just easier to have faith in the Wolverines as a top-tier team in 2019 than it is with Wiscy. The Badgers drop their first game of the year.

Result: Loss

Game 4: vs. Northwestern

No game against Northwestern is an easy affair as Pat Fitzgerald time and again finds ways to get his team competing and he has perhaps more natural talent than before. Early in the season, though, a more experienced Wisconsin team gets the better of the Wildcats.

Result: Win

Game 5: vs. Kent State

Maybe Kent State could come to Madison and sneak up on the Badgers given the fact that they have their game sandwiched into the start of the Big Ten schedule. That doesn’t seem very likely, though.

Result: Win

Game 6: vs. Michigan State

Back to Big Ten play after a brief respite from it, welcoming Sparty to Madison could be interesting and should result in a grinding, low-scoring affair. It may come down to a few key plays swinging the outcome but give me the Badgers prevailing at home.

Result: Win

Game 7: at Illinois

A road matchup in the Big Ten that takes you to Illinois is always a blessing on the schedule. The Fighting Illini shouldn’t be much of a test for the Badgers.

Result: Win

Game 8: at Ohio State

As talented as Wisconsin is, they don’t have the speed or the passing firepower to hang with what Ohio State could be capable of in 2019 — especially for a game in Columbus.

Result: Loss

Game 9: vs. Iowa

It’s safe to say that this matchup might get a little ugly given what we know about these two teams. Having said that, there’s more reason to believe in the consistency of the Badgers offense, which hands them the edge in this matchup.

Result: Win

Game 10: at Nebraska

Going to Lincoln to face Scott Frost’s team could be the final turning point for Jonathan Taylor and Co. in the 2019 season. A win sets them up for a chance at the Big Ten Championship berth while a loss could mean another mid-tier bowl game appearance. In a tough one, they pull out a victory over the Huskers.

Result: Win

Game 11: vs. Purdue

This isn’t the easiest game on the Wisconsin schedule as Purdue has a sneaky talented roster this season. We’re going to give Chryst’s team the win but it will be by a thin margin in Madison.

Result: Win

Game 12: at Minnesota

The clash for Paul Bunyan’s Axe, P.J. Fleck’s Golden Gophers may be slightly feisty in the 2019 season, especially in this rivalry game at home. Even still, the Badgers should reign superior.

Result: Win

Final Record: 10-2 (7-2 in Big Ten)
