EPL DFS Value Forwards/Midfielders

Johann Gundmundsson and Dwight McNeil (Southampton @ Burnley, $12) – This pair of cheap Burnley midfielders will draw some attention on Saturday, especially for those playing Kane.  When fit, Gundmundsson can be a consistently solid value midfielder due to his ability at getting peripherals.

He’ll be taking corner kicks and some set pieces for Burnley again this season, which adds to his value.  Dwight McNeil started to make a name for himself as a value midfielder late last season as well with his last 6/8 games in double digit fantasy points including 3 over 20.  After a 2017-18 season where they only scored 36 goals, Burnley upped their total to 45 last season.

McNeil and Gundmundsson luckily get their season started at home against a Southampton side that somehow avoided relegation last year, making them both solid value play on Saturday.  If I had to choose, I would prefer McNeil.

Luke Freeman (Sheffield United @ Bournemouth, $12) – You’re probably looking at the EPL wondering who’s worth a look on the 3 newly-promoted teams.  Truthfully, there are several players on those teams that are waiting to bust out, but I’m normally very wary of playing them until I see what they can do.

However, if you’re into taking risks, you could take one on Luke Freeman.  Sheffield United bought him for a club record fee from QPR in early July in hopes of staying afloat in the Premier League.  Freeman has been one of the better attacking midfielders in the Championship over the last 3-4 years, including a 9 goal/8 assist season last year.

We all know Bournemouth was a little leaky defensively last season, so Freeman and other new transfer Callum Robinson ($14) could be worth a GPP roster spot on Saturday.  Sheffield United also brought in Lys Mousset ($12) this summer.  Mousset actually played 58 games with Bournemouth over the last 4 seasons, so he could be more accustomed to playing at Vitality Stadium against his old teammates.

If you’re looking for value and you’re less into taking risks, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg ($12), Nathan Redmond ($12), Pascal Gross ($12), James McArthur ($10) are all known entities in this league who can provide value if you need it.
