FanDuel MLB DFS Breakdown: GPP Pitchers

Brad Keller (8.8k) @ Detroit

Keller is yet another pitcher who feels overpriced until you look at his game log and realize that he’s been pretty darn good the last month. He has an elite match-up against the Tigers today and posted 52 FanDuel points against them back in early July when he started his recent hot streak.

He is excellent against righties, racking up a 55% ground ball rate this season and that bodes well for this match-up as the Tigers are predominately right-handed.

Drew Smyly (7.6k) @ San Francisco

I’ve been on Smyly now for a few starts in a row and I’m going right back to him tonight in what I think is a really good spot. Many won’t touch him when they look at his 7 ERA on the season, but since coming to the Phillies he has totally changed the way he pitches and is having some solid success.

Smyly is not throwing his fastball much anymore (which is a good thing) and is now using a cutter that has been much more effective. He’s also increased his curve-ball usage which has resulted in more swings and misses, increasing his strikeout totals.

He pitched a gem against these Giants back in Philly just 10 days ago and don’t let his last game against the White Sox fool you. He hung one curve-ball that ended up turning into a grand slam, otherwise, he struck out 7 batters and got a bunch of ground ball outs. At this price and in this match-up, he’s an elite GPP play.
