Earn this

You know, when Zack Gibson showed up at the top of the entrance ramp already looking furious, it seemed like we were in for yet another promo where Liverpool’s No. 1 screams for five unbroken minutes about how he and James Drake are locker room leaders being mistreated by management because they have to defend their titles. But, at least by his standards, Zack Gibson is pretty measured during this appearance.

In between moments of seething with rage and listening to a bit of Ben Howard, Gibson heard from a little bird — wouldn’t take him as a friend to woodland creatures but you learn something new every day — that Gallus is petitioning for a title shot. Of course, this brings Mark Coffey and Wolfgang of Gallus out, where they inform Gibson he is mistaken. They’re not petitioning for a title shot, nor campaigning for one, nor even asking for one. No, they’re taking a title shot at TakeOver: Cardiff, thank you very much sir.

Things start to get a little too intense, so Mark Andrews’ pop-punk entrance theme hits to lighten up the mood. Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster hit the ring in matching jackets and say they too want a title shot despite having zero recent victories as a team that spring to mind. But, Cardiff is their hometown, and there’s no way they can be left off that TakeOver card.

Gibson informs them that they better earn their spot then, and proves to be right in his “advice” when Andrews and Webster visit the GM’s office and are told they will in fact have to earn it. Legitimately shaken that Gibson was right about something, but hopefully we’ll at least be in for some solid “underdogs overcoming strife” action over the next few weeks.
