DraftKings MLB Stack Options:

New York Yankees vs. Tom Eshelman:

Eshelman gave up three runs (two earned) against the Yankees five days ago in relief. They get a chance to tee off on Tom again, but presumably for longer. It’s hard to know who to target in the second game of a twin bill without seeing the lineup. Urshela, Didi Gregorius, and LeMahieu look safe regardless. The Yankees are so thin that they may DH Gary Sanchez. If they do, play him too. Mike Tauchman is a great way to polish off this stack, assuming all those guys are in the lineup.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Ariel Jurado:

Jurado has been much better on the road, but I’m not sure it matters tonight. The Jays already have 25 homers in just 11 August games and are slugging .511 on the month. This offense is young, but very dangerous. Biggio, Bichette, and Vlad Jr. will make several appearances for me tonight. So will Derek Fisher. To finish this off, a simmering Teoscar Hernandez looks good, as does Grichuk.

Texas Rangers vs. Neil Ramirez/Brock Stewart/Zack Godley

Ramirez was just cut by Cleveland. Stewart was given the heave ho by the Dodgers. Godley was sacked by Arizona, who really doesn’t have a deep pitching staff. None of these are good options, and they are all right handed. You know how Texas hits righties. Willie Calhoun and Rougned Odor are my favorites. Choo and Mazara are worth a look as well. I will finish this off with Elvis Andrus, who pretty much hits anyone.

Houston Astros vs. Dylan Cease:

Sure, I’ll pay $9,100 for a guy with a 6.00 ERA, a 6.35 ERA at home, and facing one of the best offenses in the league. Where do I sign up? I wouldn’t even pay $5,100 for Cease tonight. The strikeout per inning means nothing if he gives up a run per inning. Carlos Correa, Yordan Alvarez, Altuve, George Springer, Yuli Gurriel, and Michael Brantley are all in play. This is a great stack pivot off of Coors, if the game plays.

Colorado Rockies vs. Merrill Kelly:

Kelly has allowed ten runs (nine earned) in 12.2 innings against the Rockies this year. His start in Phoenix against them was actually worse than the one in Coors! Iannetta and Arenado hit the homers against Kelly and drove in five of the runs. Daniel Murphy and Ryan McMahon drove in the rest. That’s an affordable-ish stack if avoiding Story and Blackmon, though Blackmon is 2-3 against Kelly.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Mitch Keller:

How screwy are the prices on DraftKings? A rookie with a 10.50 ERA in three starts is $8,400 in Los Angeles. Yeah, I’ll get right on that. On the other side of it! Mike Trout is the obvious play. The good news is that most of the rest of the Angels are very affordable. Shohei Ohtani is the only other one above $4,000. I like the power potential of Matt Thaiss and Calhoun. I also like David Fletcher so long as he is leading off.
