Fantasy football 2019: Five players to avoid on draft day
By Joe Metz
Fantasy Football Running Back to Avoid: Leonard Fournette | JAC
Current ADP: 26.7 (ESPN)
While he has the potential to be lethal running back, Fournette has failed to put it all together for the entirety of a season due to the inability to stay healthy as well as the system he’s found himself in to start his young career.
He’s missed a total of 11 games over his first two seasons and when he’s played, his lack of efficiency has been extremely alarming.
After averaging only 3.9 yards per carry in his rookie season, he saw that drop to a measly 3.3 yards per carry during the 2018 season and recording only 9 rushing attempts of 10+ yards in his career.
On top of that, he’s been almost a non-factor in the passing game, recording on 58 catches out of the backfield through his first two seasons.
Nick Foles has talked about the hope to get Fournette more involved in passing down situations, but the extreme inefficiency here combined with the heightened risk for injury and the potential to see a ton of negative game script in a rather anemic offense has me looking towards a handful of other options around his ADP.
Who I’d draft instead: Nick Chubb (ADP of 32.1), Devonta Freeman (ADP of 34.5)
