Fantasy Football Quarterback: 12-14

14. Cam Newton, CAR

Since he entered the league back in 2011, Cam Newton has been a top-four Fantasy Football quarterback five times. Though he never attempts a high volume of passes hovering around 500, he makes up a lot of these points on the ground.

Last season Newton finished as the QB12, while having one of his most unproductive seasons in terms of rushing. 2018 marked the first time Newton failed to rush for 5+ touchdowns while still carrying the rock over 100 times.

He’s got a very young group at wide receiver with D.J. Moore heading into year two, and Curtis Samuel entering year three. His shoulder is somewhat concerning but is a situation worth monitoring through the preseason.

13. Drew Brees, NO

Even while attempting his fewest passes since 2004, Drew Brees still managed to finish as Fantasy Football’s QB8. He was extremely efficient with these attempts, completing the highest percentage of his 18-year career (74.4%).

2018 was just the sixth time that Brees has averaged over 20 fantasy points per game. He also set a career-high in rushing touchdowns with four.

This marked just the second time ever that Brees ran for more than two touchdowns in a season so we shouldn’t expect that trend to continue. His current ADP is QB7, which seems slightly high given the direction he is headed.

12. Josh Allen, BUF

Heading into year two, there are lots of questions surrounding Josh Allen and it seems as if nobody is willing to buy-in. He currently is being selected as the QB22, making him practically free in most Fantasy Football drafts.

The Bills’ offense isn’t all that exciting, but they did add a few pieces this off-season including Cole Beasley, and John Brown. Though these may not be the most elite receivers, it is more than Allen had at his disposal last year.

Even with these limited/no-name options, Allen was the top Fantasy Football quarterback over the last five weeks in 2018. He did a lot of damage on the ground in this span, with the most rushing yards, and rushing touchdowns on 41 attempts.
