2019 fantasy football quarterback rankings: Top 20
Though he didn’t play the season at 100% health, Aaron Rodgers still finished as a top-six Fantasy Football quarterback. He rewarded fantasy owners with a championship-winning Week 16 vs. the New York Jets.
Overtime aided this big game, but when it mattered, Rodgers had his best game of the season with almost 43 fantasy points. Outside of this, he only had five other games in which he scored 20+ fantasy points. When looking at Rodgers’ career (where he played 16 games), this was the fewest amount of touchdowns that he has ever thrown, yet the second-most passing yards.
Wit this low touchdown rate came great efficiency, as he only threw two interceptions. It’s been reported that Rodgers is building a strong relationship with the new head coach, Matt LaFleur.
He’s got an abundance of young receivers who are all going to be fighting for roster spots throughout the preseason. Rodgers should bounce back in a big way with a new scheme as he continues to get healthier. He is currently being selected as the QB4 putting him near the fifth round of drafts.
Here we go again, Andrew Luck dealing with an injury right before the start of the season. As of right now, Luck is expected to suit up Week 1, though he is dealing with a calf injury. If you’re drafting early, it’s probably not a great idea to jump on Luck super early.
However, he is and has been, my top quarterback throughout the off-season. He finished 2018 as the QB5. Luck picked it up at the end of the season, as he was behind just Patrick Mahomes from Week 4 on, averaging just under 22 fantasy points per game. When talking about key offseason additions, it’s easy to overlook what the Colts were able to do.
They will be re-gaining tight end Jack Doyle from injury, who has averaged 10+ fantasy points per game in each of the past two seasons. Devin Funchess came over from the Panthers and the Colts spent a second-round pick on wide receiver Paris Campbell.
Adding these players into the mix will do wonders for Luck, giving him endless options in the passing game. This ranking assumes that he is in fact healthy by the start of the season, but is a situation that we should continue to monitor.
