PGA FanDuel Picks: The 2019 BMW Championship
PGA FanDuel Picks – Value Picks: (Below $9,000)
Byeong Hun An – $8,300 – (GPP)
We have another fantastic week for value plays this week, and in an effort to keep things fresh, let’s talk about Benny An this week.
Of course, you know I love Sungjae Im just a tad more, and you know I will have him in the sample lineup once again considering these prices, but An is presenting some serious value here as well in a no-cut event.
We know I am more about recent form and course history than stats, but with almost zero course history here at the Medinah, I am giving a strong look at a particular stat this week, especially in this value range.
This course is one of the longest of the year at nearly 7,700 yards, and strokes gained: tee-to-green should be your most heavily weighted stat this week. An hits bombs and ranks eighth in this stat on tour this season.
One last thing I noticed about Benny An since trends and patterns are always fun, and we just saw the same thing with Molinari. Over the last five weeks, he has also had a similar pattern of a down event followed by a much better outing.
Two weeks ago, An was outstanding at the Wyndham Championship where he shot all four rounds under par and finished alone in third place, and his two OK scores in this stretch were a T-32 at the Open Championship and a T-38 at the Northern Trust last week.
He needs a big week to advance to the TOUR Championship next week at East Lake Golf Club in Georgia, as he currently sits in 61st place in the FedEx Cup standings.
As far as my player pool is concerned, An, Im, and both Corey Conners and Wyndham Clark under $8K are high on my radar. I will probably spread ownership close to evenly amongst the four, with Im getting a slight nudge above the rest.
While I said this is a week to scale back on cash games due to the no-cut and the limited field, GPP’s are a different animal this week. I will pay more attention to ownership, as avoiding the obvious plays and not using your entire salary are just a few ways to gain an edge.
These last two weeks and playoff events are a chance to be different, as the main factors that can win you serious money in an event like this is a low-owned winner, or just being slightly different from the pack in the scenario where a chalk pick wins the event.
