Fantasy Football Camp Impact: Jakobi Meyers (WR – NE)

A gifted receiver who can win inside and out Jakobi Meyers mysteriously went undrafted out of NC State. A physical wideout who can win at all three levels, Meyers had more contested catches than N’Keal Harry in 2018.

Meyers recorded 92 receptions for 1,047 receiving yards and four touchdowns despite playing beside sixth round pick Kelvin Harmon (a day two talent). His 92 receptions broke the NC State all-time mark held by former All-Pro Torry Holt.

This is what Tom Brady had to say about his undrafted rookie receiver:

"“The football doesn’t care how old you are, whether you were drafted or not. The football doesn’t care how much experience you have. It just knows that when I let that ball go, it’s got to be in the hands of the guy who it’s intended for.” Source: Zack Cox on Twitter"

Meyers has seen first team reps over first round pick N’Keal Harry, and has also remained a fixture on the first team ahead of Maurice Harris who was the recipient of some early training camp hype. It appears that he has passed Maurice Harris on the depth chart, and is the future of the slot in New England.

After a fantastic training camp that he followed up with a notice serving 69 yard, two touchdown performance in his first preseason game, Meyers has seen his ownership spike to seven percent. While Harris was the talk of early camp, it has been Meyers who has seen the greatest on-field rapport with Tom Brady as camp wrapped up.

The 86th receiver off the board based on consensus ADP, Meyers is still going undrafted according to the ADP data of most league hosts. Meyers could very well end up number two on the team in wide receiver targets and is a potential lottery ticket at the end of your drafts.

While he should be viewed as nothing more than an end of the bench flier at this point, he has shown he has the upside, and the coaches trust to return WR2/WR3 value.

Meyers just needed to land in good offense to unlock his sleeper PPR ceiling. He has done just that by joining the New England Patriots. Remember his name on draft day.
