MLB DFS Pitching Primer: Cheap Arm/SP2

Edwin Jackson (6.2k FD, 5k DK) vs. Seattle

I know, I know…you probably think I’ve lost it, or it’s too late at night when I’m writing this and I’m sleep deprived or something. I’m well aware that Jackson has an ERA over 9 this season, but our cheap options are pretty limited tonight and he’s shown a glimpse of improvement in his first outing with the Tigers after being just absolutely dreadful with Toronto.

Jackson pitched six solid innings against the Royals in his Tigers’ debut, allowing only 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. Today he has the ultimate boom/bust spot against Seattle as they are a team with a massive 30%+ strikeout rate over the last two weeks, but also a team that busted out for 11 runs last night against Matt Boyd and the Tiger bullpen.

I can’t imagine Jackson being too popular today, although his price on DraftKings might end up getting some DFS players attention as he is the cheapest guy on the slate. He will be nearly unowned on FanDuel if you want to take a bold stance and play him there. I’m not saying he’s fixed or predicting that he pitches well, I’m simply saying he’s cheap, coming off a good outing with a new team, and in a matchup where he could strike out 6-8 hitters if he has his best stuff.
