DraftKings MLB Early Plays:

Walker Buehler is the obvious choice here. Miami struggled against righties, as evident by Buehler racking up 38.8 DraftKings points on them earlier this year. I would expect a similar outing from Buehler here. We have to find a way to build around him, even if it means getting creative with the rest of the slate.

Caleb Smith has been solid all year and has been better at home. However, I’m not in any hurry to use someone priced like this against the Dodgers. However, most of the Dodgers’ usual lefty killers are still on the IL. This presents an interesting matchup for Smith, but there is still plenty of risk involved here.

We’re not using Sam Tuivailala as the Mariners opener. We’re probably not using Tom Milone either. The Tigers continue to hit lefties, some harder than others. That leaves Spencer Turnbull, and I’m happy to say he’s an excellent “leftover” to have.

Turnbull has seen the occasional blowup, but it seems like all of them have come against Cleveland. I’m more than happy to pair Buehler with Turnbull. Regardless of price, these are the two I was looking at anyway. It’s just nice that they are the most and least expensive so I still have $3,975 per hitting slot.

With Kike Hernandez. Tyler White, and Chris Taylor on the shelf, that leaves A.J. Pollock and Justin Turner to hit lefties. And the newly recalled Kyle Garlick. Honestly, Garlick is the only one I really want to take a shot with. Smith is a good pitcher. Pollock is a decent option, but I’m going to wait and see if he fits.

I’m all over Tigers righties again. Niko Goodrum, Brandon Dixon, Travis Demeritte, and John Hicks are my favorites. I’ll also use Victor Robles if he is leading off again. That would only be as a sub for Demeritte since I’m using either Harold Castro or Rodriguez at 2B. The position is shallow if you’re not paying for Muncy, and I’m not.

Using Castro allows me to use the hot Kyle Seager at another shallow position. A move down to Reyes would allow us to use Harold Ramirez, but I think I’ll stick with Demeritte and roll with Kris Negron on the cheap.
