EPL DFS Mid-Tier Forwards/Midfielders

Callum Wilson (Bournemouth @ Aston Villa, $16) – I was high on Wilson last weekend, and he burned me with a 5 fantasy point game.  Wilson is too good to keep off the score-sheet for too long, so I am not afraid to try him in GPPs again.

Villa struggled with containing Tottenham last week allowing 3 goals, and Wilson has the best odds on Bournemouth to score.  A poor first game performance will keep many off him Saturday, which should give us a low-owned and reasonably priced GPP option for Saturday.

Emiliano Buendia (Newcastle @ Norwich, $16) – Buendia lived up to the hype last weekend.  Many believed him to be Norwich’s best player, and he looked the part on Friday.  He scored 29.9 fantasy points against Liverpool, which very few players were able to do last season in that match-up.

He assisted Pukki on Norwich’s only goal and added 2 shots on goal and 3 chances created among other defensive stats.  He and Pukki could become a good attacking duo in the league if they continue that.

This will be a much more even match-up with Newcastle.  I like the idea of getting one of these likely-overlooked attackers and pairing them in GPPs could win you some money if they have a good game and the chalk fails.

John McGinn and Jack Grealish (Bournemouth @ Aston Villa, $14) – Some of my favorite plays Saturday are on Aston Villa starting with McGinn and Grealish.  McGinn scored last weekend against Tottenham on his way to a 34.7 fantasy point game.  He leads all Villa starters with the best odds at scoring again on Saturday.

Grealish is Aston Villa’s captain who was actually on the squad when they got relegated years ago.  The 23-year-old is not a prolific goal scorer, but he gets all kinds of peripheral stats both offensive and defensive.  He has a safer floor that McGinn.

This match-up should be a fruitful one for them as Bournemouth gave up the most goals on the road in the whole league last season.  Both McGinn and Grealish are prime mid-tier candidates to pair with your studs.
