MLB DFS Pitching Plays

Walker Buehler  – This early slate is only two games, but we get Walker in a smash spot against Miami. He has a 3.29 xFIP, 29% K rate, 44.6% GB rate, and 43% HC on the season.

Miami against RHP has a .129 ISO, 53% GB rate, and a 25% K rate, and Buehler has a 29.7% K rate, against RHH. Now he does have a slightly higher ISO, and more FB, but the Marlins as shown above, simply do not have any power, and they hit a lot of GB.

Pitch Mix  – During the year he has has been using the fastball over 50% of the time, with the slider, cutter, and curve between 11-15%. In his last game, Walker got 70% whiffs on that curve, which was a season high.

His cutter also has been getting great whiffs, around 30% of the time. The fastball got 100% GB last game, which is obviously an outlier considering it got around 20% in each month previously. The cutter has also been getting 50% GB in the past two months.

The fastball is pretty good sitting at around 97 MPH, moving almost ten inches vertically. Recently the slider hit a season high eight inches of horizontal movement, with the curve getting a season high 6.19 inches of movement. He is the obvious cash play on the early slate.
