NFL DFS Preseason Week 2

Browns @ Colts

The story of last week for the Browns was Damon Sheehy-Guiseppi after his well covered journey to a spot on the preseason roster. It will be interesting to see if he is able to squeak onto the final roster based on his performance over the next few weeks.

The Browns will also continue their search for a kicker, a replacement for Antonio Callaway and establish the depth chart at RB. The Colts continue to have injury-woes with Andrew Luck who will likely sit out for the remainder of the preseason.

Thankfully, they have one of the best backup QBs in the game in Jacoby Brissett. Outside of that, their biggest question mark is the depth in the passing game beyond T.Y. Hilton, Eric Ebron and Jack Doyle. Wide Receivers Devin Funchess, Parris Campbell, Zach Pascal, Chester Rodgers and Penny Hart will be the focus of the remaining three weeks.

Players to consider in NFL DFS Preseason Week 2: Garrett Gilbert (QB-CLE), Rashad Higgins (WR-CLE), Chad Kelly (QB-IND)

Patriots @ Titans

The Titans, a.k.a. the Junior Patriots, are ready to host the New England Patriots this week and are showing up to the party with 11 former members of the Patriots management, coaching staff and roster including Head Coach Mike Vrabel, Super Bowl hero/disappointment Malcolm Butler, Dion Lewis, Logan Ryan and others.

With the Patriots huge expectations, yet again, the preseason is often a playground for young or inexperienced players to prove themselves in front of Bill Belichick. Jarrett Stidham, Jakobi Meyers, Braxton Berrios and N’Keal Harry stand out as those who should be watched carefully in the match-up vs. the Titans and the remaining two weeks.

The Titans and their fans are excited to see more of Kalif Raymond and former Patriot Cody Hollister at wide-out as well as the #2 QB competition between Ryan Tannehill and Logan Woodside, who many expected to be selected by the Patriots in the latest NFL Draft.

Players to consider in NFL DFS Preseason Week 2: Jarrett Stidham (QB-NE), Braxton Berrios (WR-NE), Kalif Raymond (WR-TEN)

Chiefs @ Steelers

Similar to the Patriots, the Chiefs are viewed as a favorite for a Super Bowl appearance and are looking for standouts in the preseason to make the final roster. They appear to have a surplus of running backs which includes Damien Williams, Darrel Williams, Carlos Hyde and 6th round pick, Darwin Thompson, who had a nice performance in Week 1 vs. the Bengals.

Outside of Damien Williams, the clear #1 back, there will be a healthy competition for snaps moving forward.

The Steelers biggest hurdle will be establishing a strong collection of receivers to mend the wound left behind by Antonio Brown. Behind JuJu Smith-Schuster is Donte Moncrief and James Washington. If he is able to go on Saturday, keep your eye on Diontae Johnson who may be a nice fit in Ben Roethlisberger’s offense.

Players to consider in NFL DFS Preseason Week 2: Darwin Thompson (RB-KC), Benny Snell Jr (RB-PIT), James Washington (WR-PIT)

Lions @ Texans

The Lions were dismantled by the Patriots in Week 1 of the preseason last Thursday and lost backup Tom Savage to a concussion and veteran Jermaine Kearse to a brutal leg-break.

The Lions have a decent fleet of receivers in Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones and Danny Amendola but the loss of Kearse hurts their depth. Look for Brandon Powell to step up in the interim. Running back and 6th round pick Ty Johnson should continue to get a look and a chance to impress.

The Texans are rather established at their skilled positions and are currently trying to fortify their depth in the trenches. The biggest star of Week 1 was backup QB Joe Webb who should continue to put in work over the next few weeks.

Players to consider in NFL DFS Preseason Week 2: Brandon Powell (WR-DET), Joe Webb (QB-HOU), Karan Higdon (RB-HOU)

Cowboys @ Rams

From Hawaii! The Cowboys and Rams will face-off this week in our nation’s 50th state with plenty of roster spots to be earned. While the Cowboys await the Ezekiel Elliott holdout to conclude (hopefully), they have given Tony Pollard the 1st team reps. Behind him, Darius Jackson appears to be the only one likely to get a look as the #2.

Todd Gurley will not travel to Hawaii with the team so expect more of Darrell Henderson, the third-round pick out of Memphis who wasn’t able to get anything going in Week 1. Another team with a rather established roster, there are a few bubble players who will need to step up big time including RB John Kelly and WR KhaDarel Hodge.

Players to consider in NFL DFS Preseason Week 2: Cooper Rush (QB-DAL)
