Offensive Coordinator Breakdown – Dallas Cowboys

Fantasy Football Passing Game Impact:

I think we can look back at the past three seasons with Ezekiel Elliott and get a rough estimate of how much volume this passing game will entail. In doing so, we have an average of 501 pass attempts per season. I think with the acquisition of Amari Cooper and the development of Dak Prescott, we can feel confident that the passing attempts will go up with Moore calling the plays.

This offense should also be more efficient as they will be employing more pre-snap motion, and play action giving defenses more complicated looks to opposing defenses. The passing game should get a boost, as Amari Cooper and second-year wide receiver Michael Gallup had a full offseason to work with Prescott. I would look for him to finish around his average of 12.5 this season, but he does now have top-10 upside with his new offensive coordinator.

Fantasy Football Running Game Impact:

When you inherit one of the premier workhorse running backs in the league you simply ride him till he can’t carry the load anymore. In his first three years in the league, Elliott averages 21.7 carries a game and there is no reason to see why Moore would limit that without another proven commodity on the roster.

The importance of Elliott in this offense can’t be understated as Prescott’s ability in the passing game stems from the running game success. In the six games that Elliott missed last season, Prescott’s numbers were dipped significantly. In those six games, Prescott completed 64% of his throws for 1,146 yards (6.8 yards per attempt) while throwing five touchdowns compared to seven interceptions. In the 10 games with Elliott, Prescott threw for 2,178 yards, 17 touchdowns, and just 7 interceptions.

The leagues returning rusher looks poised for another 300+ carry workload under first-year offensive coordinator Kellen Moore in what should be a very successful running attack.
