SEC football 2019 season preview: Has Georgia closed the gap on Alabama?

SEC Games of the Year
Auburn at Texas A&M (Sep. 21)
Week 4 features some great early season SEC games. I see Auburn and Texas A&M as two teams that are fighting to be considered one of the three best teams in the SEC West, behind Alabama and LSU. This match-up should be a great temperature gauge of which team can truly contend for the division title and which team is still rebuilding.
Tennessee at Florida (Sep. 21)
Although Florida has dominated the rivalry in recent history, this match-up never fails to be entertaining. This will be Florida’s second SEC match-up of the season, and they cannot afford any slip-ups if they want a legitimate chance at bringing down Georgia in the east. Tennessee, on the other hand, could make a huge statement about the progress of their program if they can open their SEC schedule with a win on the road against the Gators.
Missouri at Georgia (Nov. 9)
Mizzou is an embattled team filled with veterans and facing a bowl ban. The Tigers were projected to finish 3rd in the SEC East at SEC Media Days and for good reason; they have a well-rounded roster and a star leader in Kelly Bryant. The Tigers could gain momentum against easier SEC opponents and treat the road game against Georgia like their version of a bowl game.
This could easily be a trap game for Georgia. They play their toughest foe in the east, Florida, the week before and their rivals SEC West rivals Auburn the week after. If the Bulldogs are going to make a mistake in the east, it is going to be against Missouri in Week 11.
LSU at Alabama (Nov. 9)
Circle this game on your calendar. Cancel all plans. If your friend has a wedding, RSVP “No”. You will not want to miss this one. It will feature Heisman candidates, the top 2020 NFL Draft prospects from the conference, and possibly two undefeated teams.
In all likelihood, the winner of this game will win the SEC West.
