Daily fantasy golf: FanDuel PGA – Top value picks (Below $8,000)

Louis Oosthuizen – $7,500 – (Cash/GPP)

This is fun and very much worth talking about before I recommend this play. I will say, this is one of the more unique situations I can think of, but let’s start with the fact that Oosthuizen, primarily a Euro Tour player for the most part, probably still did not expect to be here at this point.

He only played 18 FedEx Cup events on the season, and that is the third least as Justin Rose wins that contest with only 16.

Now for the fun part. In one of the more unique situations I can remember in pro sports, sponsorship seems to be a big deal this week.

Oosthuizen is guaranteed $395,000 with a dead-last finish, and the grumblings begin that he may withdraw based on his sponsor… U.P.S. That’s right. Shipping wars at East Lake Golf Club and Oosty is guaranteed that money even if he withdraws.

Here we are at the FedEx Cup final the TOUR Championship, and in one of the more ironic scenarios I can think of for a sponsor, as far as I have heard Oosthuizen will be permitted to wear his normal U.P.S. logos for at least this week.

This to me tells me he will play, despite the conflict of interests from the host who is putting up massive amounts of money. In the future, he may not be allowed to promote competitors, but as far as I can tell, he has the exemption this week.

Seems silly with the massive amounts of money on the line, and I am no expert on this side of things, but nonetheless, expect limited TV coverage of Oosty if he is wearing U.P.S. garb. It only makes sense.

Oosty has been playing very well coming in, and even though he starts at even par, I think he does enough to grab some screen time for his sponsor. It would be too good if he did.

Oosthuizen T-6 at the Northern Trust and followed that with a T-11 at the BMW Championship, and I think he can make a move into the top-20 here despite the huge disadvantage of starting three strokes back from 20th place.
