MLB DFS Pitching Plays

Shane Bieber  – Well Justin’s fake brother is back in action, and looking to snag some end of the year CY Young votes against the Mets. I have been a big “Bieliber” in Shane after watching him pitch last season. Bieber has been absolutely dishing this year, with a massive 31% K rate, 3.32 SIERA, 44% HC, and a 45% GB rate.

The Mets do have one of lower K rates, at 22%, and while they have been hitting the ball better as of late, Shane is just in a world of his own, and after very impressive performances recently against the Red Sox, Twins, Astros, and Angles, this is one of the softest spots he has seen in quite some time.

Pitch Mix  – Shane is very much like our last pitcher, where he is fastball, slider, and curve heavy, focusing on the three main pitches. What really impresses me is how that fastball has such a high GB rate, recently getting 40%. His breaking balls are getting over 50% GB on the season. The whiffs on both of those pitches has been between 40-50% which is very good.

One thing that Shane changed from last season is increasing his velocity on the curve by 3 MPH. The movement has slowly decreased over the course of the year but has been getting ten inches of movement on that fastball. I fully expect Bieber to go overlooked, as he always does, in which case I have no problem locking him into my tourney lineups.
