EPL DFS: Value Forwards/Midfielders

Andre Gray (West Ham United @ Watford, $12) – After the news of Troy Deeney missing several weeks, I’m sure Gray will become one of the slate’s most popular value plays.  Last season Gray had 7 goals and 2 assists in a limited number of starts, and 2 seasons ago he had 9 goals and 3 assists with Burnley so we know he can score against Premier League competition.

West Ham’s defense on the road last season wasn’t great, and Gray got a big bump in scoring odds (+145, best odds on Watford) after Deeney’s injury. Playing him is a completely viable move on Saturday, but he could become very chalky.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin (Arsenal @ Liverpool, $12) – Speaking of cheap exposure to the late game, here’s your Liverpool value.  Oxlade-Chamberlin had a disappointing start to the fantasy season with only 6.9 points in nearly a whole 90 minutes.

However, you can’t complain when getting a Liverpool winger for only $12 in a good matchup.  At the very least, Ox is in good position to break into double digits with just peripherals.  You can also get a goal or assist from him at minuscule ownership.

Manuel Lanzini (West Ham United @ Watford, $12) – I waited and waited and waited for Lanzini to have a good game last season when he finally returned from an ACL injury, and it finally happened last week.  Lanzini filled the box score and put up 24.2 fantasy points against Brighton.  This week he gets to face a Watford team that has looked horrid to start the season.

Lanzini is +280 to score which isn’t too good, but I’m really looking for him to hit value with peripherals (mostly chances created).  He doesn’t cost much and won’t be high owned, so he’s a great filler for your lineup.

Other value players I will consider on this slate are James McArthur ($12) and Dale Stephens ($10).  McArthur has a good match-up against Manchester United this week.  United will control most of the ball and Palace will just try to defend their hearts out and hope for the best.  McArthur is in prime position to go well into the mid-upper teens on peripherals alone in this one.

Dale Stephens has 2 straight double-digit games thanks to his defensive peripherals.  The Southampton @ Brighton game only has a 2.0 goal total, but it should still be tightly contested with a spread of 0.0.

Sometimes games like these mean few peripherals and some games like this lead to a ton of peripherals.  If you really need to save the money, Stephens has one of the higher floors and ceilings out of the $10 options.
