FanDuel MLB DFS Breakdown: Cash Game Arm

Mike Clevinger (11.2k) vs. Kansas City

While I have been on a “pay down at pitcher when you can” kick lately, this slate feels like one that you probably want to pay all the way up to the most expensive pitcher on the slate, Mike Clevinger. “Sunshine” Clevinger is 1500 more than the next most expensive pitcher, Zack Wheeler, but is easily the top arm on the slate.

He comes into this matchup with the lowly Royals in spectacular form, as he’s topped 40 FanDuel points in 7 of his last 9 starts with 5 of those being 50+ FanDuel point outings. He continues to pile up strikeouts and has raised his strikeout percentage to a massive 36.5% on the season.

He’s a -345 favorite at home, where he’s been dominant with a 1.85 ERA this season. He also is facing a Royals team that lacks any real left-handed threats in their lineup and has been stingy against righties this season allowing only a .203 average and .239 wOBA.

Tonight will be Clevinger’s third meeting with the Royals this season. In his first two starts, he’s allowed only one earned run over 13 innings while striking out 16 Royals hitters. This matchup is simply too good to ignore and I’d rather pay the high price tag for Clevinger in cash games to lock in 40-60 FD points than try to make up those points with a cheaper pitcher and more expensive bats tonight.
