FanDuel MLB DFS Breakdown: Cash Core Bats

Nelson Cruz (OF) – 4000

Cruz happens to be one of the hottest hitters in baseball over the last month and faces gas can Edwin Jackson tonight. Cruz is usually an autoplay in cash against lefties, but is actually batting a few points higher against righties than lefties this season and has hit 20 of his 33 homers off righties, too. Add in the fact that Jackson struggles more against righties and has been giving up a ton of power to them this season and you have an excellent chance at a home run (or two) from Cruz tonight.

Jesus Aguilar (1B) – 2900

Aguilar should slot into the cleanup spot the Rays again tonight against lefty John Means. He’s been hitting the ball a lot better since arriving in Tampa after struggling mightily in Milwaukee this season. After Means, Jesus and the Rays will see the notoriously bad Orioles pen, too, so he should have some bad pitchers to pick on in the late innings as well.

Ryan McMahon (2B) – 3200

McMahon has been one of the more reliable Rockies’ hitters in the month of August. He’s still pretty affordable at this price and has been hitting in the 5-spot behind Daniel Murphy lately. He and Murph both make great plays tonight against righty Dakota Hudson, who has some pretty severe splits against LHH.
