2. Andrew Luck

Luck made plenty of money in seven NFL seasons, ($97.107 million, according to Spotrac), and he’s clearly prioritizing his life as a whole with a wife and his first child on the way. But a year away for his body to heal may change his thinking, even as he admitted a litany of injuries has sucked the joy out of football for him.

Luck tentatively dismissed the idea he’d ever play again during his retirement press conference, saying “I can’t see the future, but it’s very clearly in my mind that I won’t.”

Count Colts’ owner Jim Irsay among those who aren’t closing the door on Luck making a comeback.

"You know, I don’t rule it out,” Irsay said. “Because as quickly as this thing sort of descended on us, and as mysterious as it was coming upon us, it could leave the same way. … I would say it’s possible."

If Luck wanted to return in 2020, fully healthy, fully committed and re-charged, the Colts would presumably welcome him back with open arms barring something unforeseen. The percentage chance of a comeback doesn’t look incredibly good on Luck’s end right now, but never say never if a one-year hiatus is all he really needs but he couldn’t say it.
