Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz has built a solid program during his 20-year coaching career for the Hawkeyes, but the fans have cultivated their own unique reputation in Iowa City.
Although it’s a recent tradition, following every first quarter the fans turn away from the field and wave. What are they waving at? Patients at the Stead Family Children’s Hospital. It’s not necessarily part of the tailgate, but it adds to the allure of attending a game at Kinnick Stadium.
In addition to the wave, certain Hawkeye fans know just how to prep for a tailgate. One, in particular, transformed a combine into one of college football’s most envious tailgating scene.
This Kinnick Combine is a beast and puts all other tailgating vehicles to shame. 😱

Iowa hosts Miami (OH), Rutgers, Middle Tennessee State, Penn State, Purdue, Minnesota and Illinois at Kinnick Stadium this season. Their road slate is much tougher, though, with Iowa State, Michigan, Northwestern, Wisconsin and Nebraska on the schedule.
