If it wasn’t for Clemson, the ACC would easily be the bottom team in this ranking and it wouldn’t even be close. But thanks to the Tigers and their domination in the College Football Playoff last season, the ACC is still going to get some respect.

The Tigers open the season ranked as the top team in the AP poll but as previously mentioned, Syracuse is the only team joining them. And during the first weekend of college football, Miami didn’t do the league any favors either.

The Hurricanes lost 24-20 to Florida in a game that was, well, ugly. The two teams struggled with turnovers and the offenses were sloppy. Heck, the Gators tried to give the Canes chance after chance in the final few minutes, but Miami couldn’t take advantage.

Top-ranked Clemson will open against Georgia Tech, while Duke will battle Alabama in the season kickoff game that is nationally televised. Louisville also gets Notre Dame Monday night in a chance for the ACC to show that it’s going to be more than a one-man band in 2019.
