MLB DFS – Build Around the Bats:

With value options on the bump tonight that are both home favorites, finding the salary cap room to load up on a game in Coors Field between the Rockies and Red Sox becomes a clear cash game strategy and a scary GPP fade in my opinion. Sure we have a huge slate and as we know MLB DFS variance can destroy even the most obvious of roster builds, but starting anywhere other than Coors tonight seems to be getting cute.

The Red Sox are a scary offense on a normal day, now you want to put them in Coors Field against a pitcher making his Major League debut who in 12 AAA starts this season had a 7+ ERA and a 17% K rate. Poor Rico Garcia.

Garcia by all accounts projects as nothing more than a bullpen arm and this Red Sox lineup is loaded with hitters that can make him pay. Keep this simple – if you are in the Red Sox batting order tonight, you are in play.

The best part about the punt pitchers is I do not have to get my exposure with the Mitch Moreland‘s of the world tonight – nope, I can go shopping in the fancy stores at the mall tonight, loading up on some Mookie Betts, JD Martinez, Rafael Devers and Xander Boegarts.

On the Rockies side of this game, you have far more ability to dive into the match-up against RHP Rick Porcello, but frankly, much of the same logic applies considering we can target the top-tier bats from Colorado as well. Porcello this season is giving up a .200+ ISO to hitters from both sides of the plate with 1.5 HR/9 metrics to both sides so you can play this spot pretty much straight up and load up on the power bats from the Rockies.

Charlie Blackmon, Trevor Story and Nolan Arenado are the clear top options, all sporting over .250 ISO marks against RHP this season and while Daniel Murphy has scuffled this season, his .218 ISO mark over the previous two years against RHP gives you an easy 4th piece to add on to any stack.

Yes, I know stacking Coors is never sneaky and telling you to play the top 8 bats in a game with a 14 IRT feels like the easy way out but with underpriced arms that make this build work comfortably, I see the path of least resistance here tonight and I think you have to jump on the opportunity.
