DraftKings CFB Quarterback Picks August 30

Top Tier:

When we last saw Dru Brown he was slinging it for Hawaii in 2017. Mike Gundy hasn’t named his starter yet, but redshirt freshman Spencer Sanders is the highest priced player on the entire slate. To me, it looks as though the Cowboys are going to play both until one of them gets hot. DraftKings obviously thinks this will be Sanders, but this is a huge risk for either of them.

Steven Montez is a much safer option, and he looks too cheap. Forget about Pac 12 season last year. Montez shredded the Rams for 40.92 DraftKings points in the opener. Don’t be surprised if that happens again. The Rams’ defense isn’t any better.

Jordan Love threw for 32 touchdowns to just six interceptions last year. Wake’s defense wasn’t that great. They are just getting respect for being a power five team against Utah State. One could argue that the Aggies were the best team in Utah for much of last year. They are no slouch, and neither is their QB. Love could be a sneaky play here. I trust him a hell of a lot more than Lewerke, no matter the opponent.

Middle Tier:

David Blough is gone, leaving Elijah Sindelar as the sole keeper of the keys to the Purdue offense, a luxury he’s never had. Blough and Sindelar split snaps for a lot of 2017 and for the first two games last year. Sindelar has the keys to a pretty potent offense, but can he finally live up to that potential? One thing is for sure: he should look the part against Nevada’s defense.

The middle tier is full of land mines. That could make the lower tier even more valuable. Jake Luton stands out a bit here. He finished strong for Oregon State last year, and the Oklahoma State defense isn’t exactly good. There is potential for a good game here, though Luton isn’t really a prolific passer.

Bargain Shoppers:

Carson Strong is an interesting option for the price since he beat out Florida State transfer Malik Henry. Strong only saw action, and not much, against Portland State last year. Strong may be unknown, but the offense is not. Jay Norvell has a good thing going out in Reno.

Texas Tech graduate transfer McLane Carter is cheap against a UMass defense that was one of the worst in FBS last year. Conversely, Randall West is the same on the other side of this. Neither defense is good. Both QB’s are unknown, but West is a starter at minimum price against a terrible defense. Carter looked good when he did play for Texas Tech last year and faces a worse defense. I love both as punts.

If Artur Sikowski holds off Carter, he is an excellent punt against a poor UMass defense. Sikowski is the minimum price for a QB, just like West.
