Fantasy Football: Player Profile – Derrick Henry
2018 Season Recap
Derrick Henry got off to a rather slow start to the season, but if you were to look at his overall numbers, you wouldn’t have been able to guess that was the case. He finished the year as the RB16 overall in ESPN standard scoring leagues and solidified himself as a strong-RB2 with upside and an anchor during the fantasy playoffs.
On the season, he posted 1,089 rushing yards (7th in NFL) and 12 touchdowns (T3rd in NFL), both marks of an extremely successful overall season, especially considering the fact that he only fumbled the ball once. I mentioned that he came out of the gates slow, but he really picked up steam towards the final 4 weeks of the regular season.
Over that span, he averaged 21.8 carries and 146.3 rushing yards per game, highlighted by a 238-yard, 4-touchdown performance in Week 14 against the Jaguars. The question remains, however, will we see that continue into the 2019 season, or will we see the same Derrick Henry we saw out of the gate last season?
