MLB DFS – Building Our Bats:

Let’s get right to it kids – this is like a damn solar eclipse for Picks and Pivots – everything lining up and despite all warnings, I plan on looking right at the sun tonight.

For those of you who may not have realized, I am a massive Mets fan and I am also the resident Jon Lester regression pied piper.

There are two things in this life that have constantly let me down – The New York Mets and stacking against Jon Lester – and well tonight, in what amounts to a must-win for the Mets, this is THE perfect storm. Either the universe finally throws me a bone or fittingly Lester will throw a no-hitter and end the Mets playoff hopes.

So here we go, Lester will step to the mound tonight after a rough recent stretch, giving up at least 5 ER now in 3 of his last 5 starts, sporting a  5+ SIERA since the start of August with a 1.5 HR/9.

I am going right at the regression continuing tonight and loading up on the Mets which seems insane considering they struggle typically to score 1 run for deGrom but here we go – lock in the big bat of Pete Alonsothe red-hot Wilson Ramosthe .200+ ISO marks against LHP of guys like Amed Rosario and Todd Frazier and a dude that just mashes at home in J.D. Davis. Go ahead and assume the Mets get to Lester early and lock in the lefties like Jeff McNeil and Michael Conforto as well.

Honestly, at this point, I would play anyone wearing Blue and Orange – Bobby Bonilla, Todd Hundley, Mookie Wilson, Benny Agbayani – if you are in the Mets lineup tonight than I likely have an interest.

Going with deGrom and a cheap SP2 and stacking up the inexpensive Mets bats will still leave you $8.3K per batter for the last two spots on your roster which gives you the ability to plug in two more power one-offs and even get some Coors exposure if you see fit.

Lester versus my Mets in a must-win – what could possibly go wrong?
