LeSean McCoy released, signs with Kansas City Chiefs: Fantasy context

Devin Singletary

Singletary is a talented running back that is going to remind a lot of folks of LeSean McCoy. With a whole offseason to pick his running styles masters brain, Singletary may be much further along than one would expect from a rookie back from FAU. He is adept at shedding tackles and has the elite level patience to make up for a line that had major issues last season. With new offseason additions to the offensive line, Singletary could quickly become one of the premier rookie runners in the league.

Singletary is an exciting runner who is excellent in the open field. He is a yards after contact monster who racked up an insane 1,027 yards after contact in 2018. He is a plus receiver and shows good effort in pass protection. Number two in the nation with 94 missed tackles, Singletary has great vision and an elite ability to make defenders miss. He looks great on his cuts and is adept at finding success despite poor offensive line play.

Already a top four dynasty rookie draft asset, Singletary has seen his redraft value take a major spike. He will have to share the backfield with Frank Gore and even T.J. Yeldon, but as Nick Chubb and Ronald Jones taught fantasy gamers last season, bet on talent, not opportunity. Singletary is more of a RB3 than an RB2 to open the season, but could quickly ascend to match up based RB2 status if he can hold his own in consecutive games. For those of you who have already drafted, try kicking the tires on Singletary to see if his owner will sell.

Frank Gore

Frank Gore is now an upside flex option. He should present some RB3 value in specific matchups and could very well end up leading the backfield in touches this season. Gore may request to be dealt, as he came to Buffalo to play with his close friend LeSean McCoy, but for now he is a Buffalo Bill. The ageless Frank Gore will provide a steady consistent presence for the Bills and may make it hard for Devin Singletary to emerge as anything more than an RB3 option. Now a zero-RB target, Gore is someone to target late in drafts.

T.J. Yeldon

T.J. Yeldon sees a slight value increase with this news. Someone who was not even being drafted outside of ocean deep leagues, Yeldon is an injury away from RB3 value. He is someone to stash in deeper leagues as he could emerge as a key part of the expected committee in Buffalo.
