11. Colorado Rockies

Generally speaking, I am a huge fan of every MLB jersey that prominently features a non-standard color, like the Rockies purple. It’s just nice to get away from the standard colors worn by the majority of the league. The Rockies are the only team in the league to feature purple, so they score extra points just for being creative.

Watching from home, it can be somewhat difficult to make out that the team’s home jerseys and pants feature purple pinstripes, which are also a bit thicker than the stripes on other uniforms around the league. Sitting close to the action in the stadium, the purple stripes do look sharp. The purple stripes are just different enough without being over the top.

The Rockies also wear a black vest as an alternate and full-on purple jerseys that are worn every Monday. These are both great uniforms, but how awesome would it be if they tried out purple pants and really went for it. I will deduct some points because I think there could have been more done with the logo on the hat. The Rockies have some very flashy alternate caps, but they don’t wear them often.

Colorado did not get caught up in the wave of over-the-top color combinations and jersey and logo designs that plagued the other franchises that entered the league in the 1990s. Their look has changed very little over the years. The Rockies have been in the league nearly 30 years now, and their uniforms have held up well.
