25. Washington Nationals

Is Max Scherzer a professional baseball pitcher or a Walgreen’s employee? Based on his team’s uniforms, I have a hard time deciding for myself. Ok, I’ll do my best to tamp down my salty Baltimore Orioles fandom and provide a serious analysis of the Washington Walgreens uniforms.

To be entirely fair to the Nationals, they were dealt an extremely weak hand when they left Montreal. The Expos had some of the best uniforms in the league, and the defunct franchise’s hat is still one of the best looking lids on the market.

The Nationals uniforms attempt to pay homage to the old Senators uniforms, but they’re a little too close to the old uniforms. A new team should have its own uniforms, and they could have done a lot more to play up the red, white and blue aspect or the flag. Filling in the curly logo on the chest with stars and stripes for an alternate was a good idea.

As was the case for the Reds, the Nationals are hurt by not having much more to put on their jersey or incorporate into their design than their name and city. Seeing as you can’t exactly plop George Washington’s head on a jersey, the Nats are probably stuck with these very middling uniforms for the foreseeable future.
